Become a licensed facial specialist in as little as 11 weeks! Florida Academy’s up-to-the-minute skin care program is structured to provide our students with the very latest information on the skin – and its care – and to train them on how to perform the latest, most in-demand procedures and services.
Our school is equipped with modern equipment, including high-frequency, galvanic and microdermabrasion machines, Epiwave Ultrasonic facial machines, LED light therapy equipment, Endermologie machines, and TEMPTU airbrush makeup machines to provide hands-on training of electronic therapy treatments, as found in the most prestigious spas, salons, and medical offices.
At Florida Academy, students also experience an unparalleled classroom setup that is thoughtfully constructed to deliver information in the most practical way possible. Here, at Florida Academy, we understand that quality instruction, provided by true professionals, is critical to getting the education you deserve – and will need – to become a successful practitioner. That is why our graduates can be found working in the area’s most prestigious spas, salons, country clubs, and medical facilities throughout the United States. Many even operate their own successful businesses.
Over the past several years, the demand for skin care treatments and services has skyrocketed! According to O*Net OnLine, the demand for skin care specialists is projected to grow by 20% in Florida between 2014 and 2024!*
You will find that dermatologists now devote ever-increasing portions of their practice to spa-like services and the sale of skin care products. Additionally, nearly every local cosmetic or plastic surgeon has added a skin care treatment regime to his or her surgery practice. Another indication of this growing field is the fact that the state of Florida recently required HMOs to allow their members five visits annually to a dermatologist without a referral from their primary care physician. There is indeed science coupled with art in this exciting and exploding new field.
This noticeable growth is due to people’s increasing awareness about the importance of a healthier lifestyle, and how the skin plays a big part in it. Our skin is our largest organ, so we must take good care of it during our whole life. It’s not a matter of vanity alone; it’s also about health and preventing skin conditions. Doctors and patients are becoming more and more aware of the importance of skin care, especially to improve patients’ self-esteem.
Some of the tasks skin care specialists perform include, but are not limited to:
- Examine client’s skin
- Cleanse client’s skin
- Perform extractions and remove blackheads
- Provide facial massage
- Improve client’s appearance through skin treatments
