Jumpstart Your Career in Electrical Technology at Florida Academy

Are you looking for a career that has some spark? Then the Electrical Technology program at Florida Academy might be just what you’re looking for. This nationally accredited, professional education program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning, in a real-world environment. Our targeted approach utilizes up-to-date tools, techniques, and technologies to teach students how to navigate challenges in the job market. The Electrical Technology program will provide training for entry level employment in the electrical industries conducting construction installation, equipment and facility repair, and maintenance activities. 

Students in the Electrical Technology training program will acquire knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain, and repair electric apparatus and systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial electric-power wiring; and DC and AC motors, controls, and electrical distribution panels.

Skilled Trade Foundations
This course introduces the student to topics necessary as a foundation in skilled trades and electrical. Topics include basic safety, OSHA 10-hour safety, and Electrical fundamentals.

Electrical Basics
The Electrical Basics course includes elemental to Electrical training. Topics include:

  • Electrical Currents
  • Electrical theory
  • Circuit breakers
  • Device/Junction boxes
  • Conductors
  • Grounding
  • Fitting
  • Control Systems
  • National Electrical Code ®

Electrical Distribution & Applications
In the Electrical Distribution & Applications course, students receive instruction concerning the applications introduced in the previous courses. These courses cover the following topics:

  • Load calculations
  • Applications of lighting
  • Transformers
  • Voltage terminations
  • Conductor selections
  • And more
