Top 5 Hairstyle Trends to Look for in 2019

by

Nothing says a new year and new you like a change in your hairstyle or hair color. In 2019, you may choose to go with the cut or style of your favorite celebrity, or pick a style that everyday people seem to like. The possibilities are limitless, but here are some trends in hairstyles, color products and hair accessories you’re likely to see this year.

Hairstyle Trends of 2019 | Have a look at them here:

Bobs and Lobs

A good cut can boost your confidence and even change the shape of your face. Bobs have been popular for a while now, but rather than the layered short and medium cuts of the past, in 2019 a blunt-cut jawline bob is one to consider. It’s a little shorter in the back and falls between your ears and chin. You can wear it in a polished, sleek style or just tousle and texturize for a casual look. The versatile lob is a longer version of the bob, resting at the neck or top of the collarbone. If you have thin hair, have your stylist blend in interior layers and pump up the volume with mousse.

Bangs

Another simple way to change your look is by adding fringe to your hairstyle: bangs. Choose blunt-cut or shorter bangs that blend into gradual layers to modernize your style. If your hair is long and straight, try the curtain-style, face-framing bangs that pair well with a side part. Do you have thick hair? Opt for thick bangs that hang over your eyes and look good with a heavy layered cut that stops at the top of your shoulders.

Rich Color

Do you remember the greens, blues, pinks and purples that were popular in 2018? That’s not going to carry over so much this year – except for as pops of color or on the ends of hair. Look for color products and tints that are rich and vibrant: chocolate with copper accents, chestnut with gold, multidimensional blonde, inky black and ash gray.

Hair Decoration

If a barrette or hair clip serves as a means to an end (pulling your hair back or up), reconsider the way you look at them this year. Wear them together or do a cluster of different types of barrettes for this year’s hairstyle trend: hair decoration. Certainly, clips, scrunchies and barrettes can serve their traditional purpose, but let what they do go a step beyond. Secure a topknot with a band or scrunchy, but then decorate it with flowers, feathers, gems or beads. Use braids to create a decorative style that you can adorn with accessories like something your favorite celebrities might wear when they walk the red carpet.

Retro Style

Many of the 2019 hairstyles can be adapted to popular retro trends. For example, if you’ve decided on bangs, try the waif-like look that was popular with the long, straight hair of the 1960s, when mini-dresses and go-go boots were the fashion. The center-parted, no-haircare look of the 1970s is in, too, as is a vintage shaggy-layered look. If you have a bob or lob, give it a retro rounded look à la Toni Tennille when she and the Captain were at the helm of popular music. Remember the too-short bangs your mom gave you when you were a kid? That’s a popular retro look today.
